Evaluation

Radio Drama Evaluation

Overall I think that my radio drama was successful, I think that the storyline was strong for my target audience and I think that it would be successful if played on the radio, within the radio drama you could understand when a different character was speaking, the sound effects used within the drama were added into the correct places and were relevant to what was happening. When showing my radio drama to a group of my target audience they agreed that the storyline was suited for their age, they liked that there was an option at the end for them to include there ideas, they felt that it was a way of the radio drama to be theirs as well as the creators.

After my radio drama was listen to by a group of my target audience I collected feedback on the unsuccessful factors of the radio drama, I learnt that to make my radio drama better and more successful I needed to: add a jingle into the beginning so that it seems like summer is on a live radio show; change the sound levels so that the volume was consistent throughout the radio drama; add clues so that the audience is aware when a scene changes or when the location/time changes; remove all microphone crashes making sure that it is clear to hear throughout; change the sound effect of the ringtone as it can be distracting, taking away the attention of the storyline; Explanation or introduction so that the audience is aware what is happening in the story. After gaining my feedback I played back the radio drama and noted down what major changes needed to be made.

After receiving feedback and noting down what needed to be changed I looked at how I could improve the radio drama, to improve it I needed to, make it clear when the location/time changed; create a jingle for the opening of the radio drama; make sure all sound levels are the same and make sure the audience know what is going on in the radio drama.

If I was to recreate this radio drama I would stick to one storyline within the drama, within the original I had three storylines, the rumours about summer, Mia and Louie dating and Connor getting dyslexia. I would also create less characters, I had a lot of characters that played little parts that were slightly irrelevant.  I would also make sure all sound effects were created by me and not taken from a copyright free website.

The book starts with Mr Finchley married to Mrs Crantell, the woman he had met in Cornwall in the first book, and attending his retirement party. They have adopted Robert, the waif that Mr Finchley befriended in Paris, and sent him to boarding school in Kent.
Mr Finchley takes a fancy to a horse-drawn caravan that he sees for sale. His new wife does not relish the prospect of a caravan journey so goes to visit her brother while he sets out to explore Kent and go house-hunting. He has various mishaps while learning to handle the horse and the caravan, and encounters an array of scroungers, eccentrics and country characters and sees several unsuitable houses.
Meanwhile other people are showing an unnatural interest in his caravan.
